As Jesus walked the earth he showed God’s great love for his world. He healed the sick, cared for the marginalised, and taught about God’s love for the people and world that he has made. He also loved God perfectly, living in a perfect relationship with God…
Jesus also taught that even though God made us and loves us, we don’t love him in return. Rather we live as we please, with no reference to him, often living in ways that are contrary to how he’s made the world. To go on living this way is to say we don’t want God in our lives, that sort of choice isn’t just a choice for this life, but a choice for eternity. Eternity separated from God...
But, the astonishing good news of the Christian faith is that God didn’t leave us to try and fix our relationship with God, something we can’t do, but instead, Jesus died on the cross. He didn’t die a death he deserved, but instead was separated from God taking the death we deserve. Jesus has made the way open for a relationship with God that starts now and goes on for eternity...
So, the best story in the world. A great love story, a great hero story. A story worth investigating.
